WHY YOU SHOULD REGISTER
Pickleball was created with one thing in mind: FUN! From recreation centers and health clubs to competitive tournaments across the country, Pickleball is the fastest growing sport of choice for many active adults, especially for tennis fans who want to transition to something a little less demanding.
EVENT DETAILS
Pickleball was invented in 1965, and is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis, played as doubles or singles. Players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a wiffle ball, over a net. The sport shares features of other racquet sports, the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules similar to tennis, with a few modifications.
The game is accessible to people of all ages and abilities, while allowing for more competitive players to challenge their endurance.
HOW TO PLAY
In Pickleball, serves are underhanded and paddles are swung as to make contact with the ball below the waist, but without bouncing the ball. The ball is served diagonally following a two-bounce rule where it must bounce in the receiving court and the return of serve must bounce anywhere on the playing surface before a volley can be struck.
Additionally, there is an area near the net called the "No Volley Zone" wherein a player can hit the ball only after it has bounced. Points are scored by the serving side only and occur when the opponent faults. The server continues to serve, alternating service courts until the server team faults. The game is played to 11 points.
