OUR STORY
The Lake Lure Olympiad Sports Event is a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers, bringing people together in the spirit of friendly competition for the benefit of charitable giving. The Olympiad board members, race directors and over 250 annual volunteers are strongly committed to promoting health and wellness in adults and children, regional tourism and economic development.
WHY WE DO IT
We love where we live and we always want to give back to those that sacrifice everyday to make our community a better place to live. Many times local heroes get forgotten; this is our way of supporting them.

Over the past 19 years, the Lake Lure Olympiad has given back over $400,000 to area charities and service organizations. The event would not be possible each year without the generous support of local, regional and national organizations sponsoring the event through financial investments and product donations.

OUR VOLUNTEERS
The Lake Lure Olympiad could not take place without the kind, generous and welcoming volunteers that give their time each year. Volunteer opportunities vary from removing timing chips at the finish line, directing runners/cyclists on the race courses, providing safety on the water, giving out post race food.
What does a volunteers get in return? You will be welcomed by a group of wonderful people who are giving their time to make sure the athletes are safe and happy, you will know you are helping area charities /service groups and you will know the feeling of being needed while spending time in one of the most beautiful places in the country!
