From the 10K Dam Run to lighting the torch, water ski performances and FREE ice cream sundaes, the Lake Lure Olympiad’s Opening Ceremonies are the best way to kick off the 3-day sport’s event weekend. With activities for spectators, adults and children, everyone is sure to have a great time on the beach at Lake Lure's Rumbling Bald Resort!

Lighting of the Torch

The Lake Lure Olympiad's signature Lighting of the Torch always brings a lump to the throat and a swell of pride as the National Anthem is played.

Stay tuned for this year's tourch lighting host.

NATIONAL ANTHEM

Join us as we pay a tribute to our country with a performance of the National Anthem by Melvin Morrison of East Lincoln High School athletic team.

The Fun Continues with...
  • Water ski performances conducted by Lake Lure Adventure Company

  • Music hosted by DJ Michael Sprouse

  • Free ice cream sundaes on the terrace of Legends on the Lake

  • Rumbling Bald Resort will have a cookout on the beach, including specialty beers sponsored by New Belgium Brewery, provided at a discount for purchase.

  • Packet pick-up and registration for athletes will be open from 5-7 P.M.

EMCEE OF THE OPENING CEREMONIES

We are proud to welcome back Lynn Carnes as the emcee of this year's Opening Ceremonies! Lynn is the Founder and CEO of Creative Spirits Unleashed and is also a TEDx speaker, author, executive coach and dedicated artist. Lynn works with business owners, C-Suite executives and high performing teams and athletes to lead deep and meaningful change while staying true to their core. Lynn writes about inspiring new ways to look at learning, growth, and reinvention in leadership, athletics, art, and life.


Lynn contributes to our community through participating as president of the Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy and the Lake Lure Community Education Foundation. She also volunteers at Lake Lure Classical Academy and the Lake Lure Olympiad. There are times when you can catch Lynn on the water, as she is an avid skier, or in the woods taking a hike.
